Yeah just ridiculous. If they get enough signatures, this kind of shit needs to be passed around on the airwaves about the campaign of lies.

  • 2. Ronnie  |  September 27, 2011 at 3:47 pm

I'll repost what I typed when I posted about this earlier…..

Bring it to the ethics board. Bring it to every politician who supports the FAIR Act. This is unethical, immoral, illegal campaign fraud & certainly NOT Christian…. Oh, I forgot the anti-LGBT fascist version of "Christian" can do & say whatever they want including lying as long as they do & say it in the name of their destructive & hateful version of "God"….. Thou shall not bear false witness….oh my bad, that is a manmade "Bible" rule that puts limitations on those who are heterosexist so it doesn't count….. (rolls eyes).. 8 /

Go get 'em Courage Campaign….. <3…Ronnie

Adam, what can we realistically do about this? Is there an ethics board we can contact? Can and should this be brought to the registrar's of voterattention….Gov Brown directly perhaps?
Please tell us what we can do.
We CAN'T let them get away with this!!
    I am SO mad!!!!

  • 4. FlexSF  |  September 27, 2011 at 4:10 pm

Dear Christianist industrialists, this will be used against your cause, as evidence, in a court of law.

  • 5. Mark ;-)  |  September 27, 2011 at 5:02 pm

It appears that this misleading information may be a violation of election laws (I will be emailing the secretary of state), here is the relevant section from the initiative procedures ( http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/ballot-measures/i… ):

The Elections Code imposes certain criminal penalties for abuses related to the circulation of initiative petitions. It prohibits circulators from misrepresenting the purpose or contents of the petition to potential petition signers, intentionally making a false statement in response to a voter's inquiry as to whether the circulator is a paid signature gatherer or a volunteer (Elections Code § 18600), and from refusing to allow prospective signers to read the initiative measure or petition or Attorney General's summary. (Elections Code §§ 18601, 18602.) No person may offer or give payment or anything of value to another in exchange for signing an initiative petition. (Elections Code § 18603.) The code also makes circulators, signers, and others criminally liable for signing or soliciting to sign false, forged, fictitious, or ineligible signatures and names. (Elections Code §§ 18610-18614.) The law provides criminal penalties for persons, including public officials, who make false affidavits (for example, the circulator's declaration is an affidavit), returns, or certifications concerning any initiative measure. (Elections Code §§ 18660, 18661.)

There is a complaint form online at http://www.fppc.ca.gov/index.php?id=498

  • 7. JonT  |  September 27, 2011 at 5:37 pm

Yeah, I saw that earlier today.

Is anyone really surprised these people have to lie to advance their hate anymore?

Hopefully they will get spanked, but I'm not holding my breath.

Maybe we should rename SB48 the "Protect Children from Child Molesters Act", then we can say that if you vote to repeal SB48, you are voting TO SUPPORT child molesters. Why not? Lying seems to work for them, maybe we should have a go.

    I'm only half-joking.

For specific examples of election fraud in California, including the one seen in the video, see http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/fraud-complaints/…

FPPC is not likely the agency with jurisdiction in this case. More likely that it's the Secretary of State. http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/fraud-complaints/

    One can hope… :)

    Instant. Proof. Of. Animus.

  • 13. AnonyGrl  |  September 27, 2011 at 6:37 pm

That's right, because as everyone knows, the way to prevent your child from being homosexual is to make sure that you censure and censor history lessons. It is just the same as keeping your child from becoming tall is accomplished by never letting them watch basketball on TV.

    /end sarcasm

  • 14. truthspew  |  September 27, 2011 at 7:13 pm

Yeah, I saw this on YouTube earlier. They can't make the case against SB48 so they use an emotional hot button issue in order to pull the old bait and switch.

You mean… watching basketball doesn't make you grow tall? Rats.

Had to laugh. So far only one person has "liked" this on Facebook.

  • 18. Elizabeth_Oakes  |  September 27, 2011 at 8:02 pm

Yeah, I watched Billy Barty as a kid and I'm still payin' for it.

  • 19. Andrew  |  September 27, 2011 at 11:07 pm

Does anybody happen to know if your complaint "counts" if you just saw the video online like this, and were not the one actually there. (Seems to me it might be dismissed as "heresay" even if there's a video). If someone can clear this up for me, I'm definitely sending in a complaint.

  • 20. Bill S.  |  September 28, 2011 at 1:15 am

File a complaint anyway. The worst that could happen is it rejected. You could not be called to testify if these people are brought to court, because hearsay (except the "dying declaration") is forbidden in court proceedings.

  • 21. AnonyGrl  |  September 28, 2011 at 5:35 am

Isn't MM4M personal ad speak for a married man who is seeking a homosexual encounter on the side?

  • 22. loaferguy  |  September 28, 2011 at 6:35 am

Funny, AnonyGrl! I hadn't even noticed that, but you're absolutely correct. I imagine that there would be quite a few of those in that group.

  • 23. fiona64  |  September 28, 2011 at 9:21 am

So much is now explained (I'm 5'1").

  • 24. Ronnie  |  September 28, 2011 at 9:39 am

I'm still a little vexed because I didn't grow up to be a Care Bear who shoots light beams out of his stomach when I shout "Care Bear Stare!!!!" while shaking my belly. All those hours of watching Care Bears did nothing… herrumph…. & don't get me started on the fact that I did not grow up to be a Ninja Turtle, a Power Ranger, A My Little Pony, a cowboy on Hey Dude, a time traveler with a DeLorean, Living on the space stay with Zenon Girl of the 21st Century rocking out to "Supernova Girl" by Microbe, a Gummy Bear that bounces, or a giant talking polliwog on Gullah Gullah Island….. (sighs) The magical TV that the fundies seem to think exists just doesn't work for me…. all well…. Gay sera, sera…. ; ) …Ronnie

  • 25. maggie4noh8  |  September 28, 2011 at 11:40 am

If you look at the facebook page, the 1 person liking this, is themselves!

I posted the following on their facebook wall:

    Ummm…

That's quite an ambitious undertaking, and "name" as well.

If this was abbreviated to "MM4M", I suspect quite a few more republicans, christians, etc would be signing up to march. Especially if you posted on Craigslist!

    LMAO

  • 26. Alan_Eckert  |  September 28, 2011 at 11:52 am

If you read through his blog (be ready to vomit), he has a post about not using that hashtag on twitter anymore.

  • 27. Deeelaaach  |  September 28, 2011 at 6:14 pm

Does the person who saw it need to be the one to make the complaint, or does that matter? Can anyone sign the complaint? Also, would there be any point to putting these false statements in a campaign commercial if Stop SB 48 gets their ilk on the ballot? It would show that lies and deception are part of the *conservative (Christian?) agenda* against homosexuality. (They like to cite the so-called homosexual agenda; perhaps we need to frame their real agenda in a similar fashion?) If we see stuff like this in the future, is it worth the attempt to get news coverage of such lies at the time the signature gatherer is spreading such lies? If we can do any of these, it would help to show the general public the deception and animus involved, not to mention documenting it for any future court challenges we may need to mount. For the most part, people don't like being lied to, and while illustrating these lies to those with animus will not help, it might sway those on the fence to come over to our side.
