FOX News rejects gay troops TV ad
November 23, 2010

Apparently Fox News is afraid of any opinions not their own – especially if they’re – gasp – foreign! How else explain Fox’s rejection of this simple 30 second ad produced by the Palm Center in which two Generals from allied forces say on May 2010 that gay troops do not undermine combat effectiveness.
Major General Semianiw, Chief of Military Personnel in the Canadian Forces,: “There is no negative impact of having men and women of any sexual orientation fighting together, be it in Afghanistan, be it in Iraq.”
Major General Simon VL Willis (ret) former Head of Defence Personnel in the Australian Defence Force: “The lifting of the homosexual ban was a bit like Y2K. It was a non-event, and it continues to be a non-event.”

Duh. Fox News has to tell Americans what they think, even if 70% of 'Murcans support the repeal of DADT.

I periodically change the channel to Fox News just to see what they happen to be saying…too many lies. They live in a separate reality than most Americans.

Great commentary. I do have much hope that we will eventually have equal rights in the US – but I also fear for the lives, emotions and dignity of many 'family' members while our nation transitions to LGBT equality.

I just can't. More than a minute or two & I'm fighting the urge to throw something at the TV.

Firstly I like these young men, Sean Simonson and Bernardo Vigil…they have tenacity and should be applauded for both of their strength and courage.
They wrote an editorial that condemned Archbishop Niestadt's anti-gay and anti-equality marriage DVD that was mailed out to people.

That whole segment is from a discussion at the Brookings Institute earlier this year. Well worth reading (or listening to):

the production value of this commercial falls far below what would normally be accepted at any major television station. in fact, its such a poor looking commercial, i'm not sure it would help the push to repeal DADT, especially considering this instance where it is targeted directly at folks who are likely to resist.
unfortunately, the delivery of the message is more important than the content. somebody please put together a better ad. lets get this right and really make a difference to those viewers.

Makes me glad I don't have cable. I do wish they'd go to ala carte — wonder how many folks would drop Faux News from their package?

I used to listen to Rush Limbaugh every once in a while just to laugh at the crap that fell from his mouth… until I was old enough to realize that people actually took him seriously. Now, like Rush, Faux News just makes me sick.

Fox news is a propaganda arm of the right wing in this country. Hardly surprising they wouldn't run this ad – it doesn't fit their narrative.
Did anybody see last week's Simpsons? In it, they had a fox news helicopter, and on the side it said something like:
'Not Racist.
But #1 among racists.'

Heh, I stopped reading after '…gays spread disease at a rate far…'
I've already read this shit. Can't these thugs make up some new shit for a change?

(or something like that)

Homosexual men are turned on by the sight of other men, as shown by the amount of gay porn on the internet. o.o? Am I missing something, or is there a significant amount of straight porn online, too? Or is straight porn just not an issue because men and women don't shower together in the military (as far as we know)?
What a load of tripe…

And no, it does NOT surprise me that FOX ("guarding" the henhouse) refused this ad. As we all well know FOX is not known for speaking the truth.

bryce, perhaps some truth to what you say about production value, and delivery of the message,
the really valuable point is that it is allied forces, with experience, that would annoy Fox more than the message, it's very odd that these allies continue to support these wars??? the U.S. army is used by FOX , big business, and the church,
