Louie Louie, oh no (or how NOM volunteer Louis learned to stop worrying and love spinning)
August 7, 2010
by Adam Bink
So NOM volunteer Louis (hi, Louis!) blew a gasket over our coverage of his “Summer for Empty Parking Lots and Pro-Violence Signs Marriage”. Here’s his post on the Sioux City stop:
Our rally today in Sioux City attracted about 80 people. Our opponents claim that only 56 showed up but that of course, is because they need to make it sound like there were more people at their same-sex ‘marriage’ rally they held than who showed up to support authentic marriage between a man and a woman.
They can take a picture from forty feet away and count the heads they see. Sure from that point of view and in a two-dimensional photo, there very well may be only 56 heads visible. But said photo lacks important aspects such as depth which is why their head count of 56 is about 25 heads short.
There’s no way one photo from one vantage point is going to show each person standing in a group! It’s a very simple concept yet our opponents have made this mistake time and time again – but the point is that it actually isn’t a mistake.
A coupla things:
1. Pot calling the kettle black here, my friends. How is your photography any different, Louis? Louis posts this photo:
and then claims “Our rally today in Sioux City attracted about 80 people.” Based on what, exactly? Louis decries two-dimensional photos that lack depth, then posts one to prove there are 80 people. In fact, posts two- there’s another one at the top left on every post. Louis, we are waiting for your photo documentation taken from a tree or the official NOM Tour helicopter showing those 80 people.
2. We’ll leave aside that you seem to be calling us liars, Louis. It kind of makes me laugh, actually. Consistently you’ve been out-turned out on your own tour, and you’re desperate for a new spin angle. You’re trying to do your duty. No hard feelings.
But, let me give you a piece of advice. If you’re going to make that kind of claim absent non-two dimensional photos, you need to prove it. I want you to count each and every one of those people and show they’re there. Something along these lines:

From Camp Courage advisor Billy Polina, a hand-count of the pro-NOM attendance in Annapolis
Then we’ll talk.
3. What Timothy Kincaid said. We don’t care if it’s 56 or 80 or 110 (even though in most places, it’s nowhere close to triple digits). Even today in the Deep South, Georgia, a state that voted for a constitutional ban by a 3-1 margin, the count was 254-16 (and I’d like to see the photo spinning your way out of 16). Three separate rallies have been held in empty parking lots. After all this planning and crowing about a majority for marriage, NOM is imploding on its own tour.
And no amount of spinning will change that.

Adam, you, like Arisha, are showing quite a bit of restraint. You Rock!
On the previous thread, you will see a video for a song that fits the NOM tour spinners, especially WRT to their eyewear. Hope you get a chance to listen, and I hope you enjoy it.

I guess for all of us who support marriage equality, the exact number can be spun either way. The real bottom line is that SSM support is consistently greater than NOM support on this tour…their tour !
We know we're winning the battle. For me, staying civil is the hardest thing in the world to do with these "people", but I keep telling myself that to win the hearts & minds of middle-America we need to stay cool.
We're doing a great job!!!

I don't know where to start laughing at Louis' attempt to build a mountain of support from that molehill of 56 (80? ok, fine, it's 80; you can have 80). Too rich. If it really means that much to him, let's give him his 80.
Going back to Judge Walker's finding of fact re: animus and moral disapproval… it's too bad he couldn't also find a way to "intellectual dishonesty" and "utter incompetence" in his findings of fact.

Reading this website I get the impression of two school children trying to out do each other. I'd expect that from some of the other side, but c'mon equality people, let's elevate the discussion a little bit. Logic and fairness are on our side. Relgion and tradition is on the other side. Who cares how many dumbos who up to support their rallies?

You are making an assumption, Fiona, and you should be very careful about that.
After all, we don't KNOW that Louis has toes.

rikerbear | August 7, 2010 at 9:41 am
Just having some fun at their expense Pat. Their side is forever doing idiotic juvenile things…now and than it's fun to allow ourselves a laugh…however childish it may seem to you, it's all in good fun.
Their side continues to distort the truth:
1: Attendance (LIES!)
2: Evil Gays threatening, intimidating women and children (LIES!)
3: Attack dogs at rally (LIE!)
4: Evil Hostile Gays stormed the stage (LIES!!)
Those are just a few of the lies and distortions.
If we don't call them out on one lie no matter how small than we risk allowing them credibility.
Not on my watch!!

Sagesse | August 7, 2010 at 9:41 am
NOM Tour Trackers are bearing witness. To how many attended, to what was said, and to the marriage equality response, which NOM,Louis and co. stopped mentioning about stop # 3. Imagine what they'd be saying if they weren't being watched.

That is another part of the value of this P8TT family. We can vent here and get things off our chest so that we can deal with the moderate folks who are on the fence in a rational manner. This is the place where we can let off steam, get ideas from others on how to handle various situations, and smooth ruffled feathers.

I think he did. Remember, he siad that Blankenhorn's testimony should not be given very much wieght, and pretty much, in strict legal terms cited both "intellectual dihonesty" (in finding that Mr. Blankenhorn was NOT an expert in what he claimed to be an expert in) and "utter incompetence" with the overall lack of credibilty he gave to Mr. Blankehorn's testimony. I will go back and re-read the decision so that I can make note of the locations to refer you to on those.

for the serious side of things, read JonT's blogsite, about little Roy who was beaten to death for acting like a girl, followed by all the children who died or took their lives for being bullied at school,
think that's a serious onversation we're avoiding, by having all the fun,
there is some deep underlying sorrow that is being avoided, by all this giddiness and childlike behavior Pat.
On Aug 2nd little Roy was beaten do death, on Aug 3rd Judge Walker gave noitcie of his ruling, (I'm thinking little Roy prompted him to get on with it,) On Aug 4th the ruling came out in our favour, Celebration insued,
We could get to work on exposing the results of the fear NOM spews, but we're having to much fun laughing at them.
JonT has done an amazing job of starting a blogsite, we need to get to work protecting the children. To many have already died.
Does anyone know if the LGBT commuity has an archives of all the children who died as a result of bullying, beatings, or taking their own lives because they couldnt handle the result of the above. A very somber, sober task I know, but a factual rebuttal to NOMers protect the children line.
I agree Pat we could get back to work on changing hearts and minds, and educating people about the annilation of Rainbow Chilodren.

From NOM's website…
Boy, we MUST be the bad guys. Listen to all the horrible stuff we are up to!!
Our opponents are determined to force same-sex on the entire nation, and judges like Judge Walker are more than willing to help — even declaring the Christian faith itself “harmful” to gays and lesbians.
We are? They did?
38.
Ann S. | August 7, 2010 at 11:50 am
"force same-sex on the entire nation" — well, gosh, that's gonna be a heck of a big party, and frankly a new experience for me, but if NOM says so, it must be so.
39.
Ronnie | August 7, 2010 at 12:02 pm
No NOM, you dipshites…..It's Homophobic, Fascism that is HARMFUL to Gays & Lesbians……There are Christians who follow the true teachings of Christianity & support Equality…when is that PROVEN FACT going to get through their thick skulls…..for crying our loud, a rock is less dense those NOMrades are & an incurable tumor is way more welcomed then their repugnant rhetoric is….. : I …..Ronnie
40.
Richard A. Walter (s | August 7, 2010 at 12:08 pm
Remember, Ronnie, the NOMbies aren't even attempting to read Judge Walker's decision. Theya re just skimming it to see how they can twist it, and it is probably MG who is doing that. After all, BB and LJM are far from being the sharpest crayons in that box.
41.
Anonygrl | August 7, 2010 at 12:12 pm
That's right! Ha HA all you straight folks! Thought you could escape, but NO! It is GAY SEX for YOU!!
But be careful gays! Watch out for the dreaded CHRISTIAN FAITH. One touch, and you shrivel up like a vampire in the sun! Or maybe sparkle like one. Which could be ok, I guess…I do look good in glitter…
Wait, where was I? Oh, yeah! Those Bible Thumpers are coming to THUMP YOU with their Nook-you-lar Powered Holy Book! How do I know? Judges like Judge Walker said so!
(Disclaimer:No actual gay sex was forced on anyone, and no actual judges declared the homosexual slaying power of any brand of religious belief or literature* during the making of this post. No animals were harmed, but two passing squirrels, my neighbor's labradoodle and a flock of Canadian geese did claim to be very confused by the whole thing. Please send contributions now so these poor creatures can seek therapy. Think of the labradoodles! Will no one think of the labradoodles?)
(*except possibly the I-Ching, but there was some debate as to whether that was even a religion, and the whole business fell to pieces at that point and everyone went out for some frozen yogurt instead.)

"…even declaring the Christian faith itself “harmful” to gays and lesbians."
What! Of course the Christian faith isn't harmful to gays and lesbians. All it does is declare that gays and lesbians are abominations who should be destroyed. Sheesh.
This is just another example of the bigoted homosexuals discriminating against Christian families' civil rights. That's what it is.

OK… its late, but here we go… would you like another installment of…
Tonight On the Nom Bus – (scene number goes here)
Louis is poking away at the computer. Maggie has cleaned up a bit, washed the mud off, but she still only has one shoe. She stand with her arms folded, tapping her foot, watching the door. After a bit, Brian comes slinking in, like a teenage caught out after curfew.
Maggie: Ahem.
Brian says nothing, goes to a chair and sits, looking dejected.
Maggie: I said Ahem.
Brian: (finally looking at her) Yes Maggie? (He tries to put on a fake smile).
Maggie: Atlanta? Georgia? 71% of the state voted against gay marriage, you had a relative of Martin Luther King, Jr. and you couldn't raise more than 16 people???
Louis: Fifteen.
Maggie: What?
Louis: (not looking up from the keyboard) The Atlanta Journal-Constitution says we had 15 people today. They have pictures.
Maggie: Yeah?? Well the NOM TOUR TRACKERS gave us 16 and today, I'll TAKE IT!
Brian: Calm down Maggie.
Maggie: Calm down? CALM DOWN? We knew things were going to be a little dicey for us in the northeast, which is why we STARTED there. You ASSURED me we would pick up bigger numbers when we hit the RED states… Now we are in the SOUTH, the BASTION of conservative Christianity, we paid through the NOSE for a speaker whose very NAME should have brought them out in droves, and somehow, SOMEHOW the gays, who YOU TOLD ME would be fearful of even being out on the STREETS in this part of the world, turned out a crowd that was FIFTEEN TIMES BIGGER THAN OURS.
Brian: Well, I know… but…
Maggie: This 2 Million 4 Marriage idea was supposed to work in OUR favor. If it continues like this, they are going to get 30 million supporters out of it, and we are going to be LYNCHED!
Louis: (to himself) Yep… 2M4M. (he absentmindedly pats one of the signs stacked behind him that says "2 Million 4 Marriage.") Hey… whatever happened to…
Maggie: Shut up Louis! All right, Brian. We have given you EVERY advantage we can for the next stop. Florida, for god's sake. At a church. In a different CITY to throw off the protesters. If you can't make THIS one work, I am seriously considering revoking your membership in the "we are able to procreate naturally" club.
Louis: (perks up, slightly intrigued by this) You are going to make him gay?
Maggie: No, Louis, I am just going to remove some of the necessary equipment. (She turns on Brian, who has subtly put his hands over the equipment she is threatening to remove) Give me your hotel key.
Brian: What? No.
Maggie: Listen, I am not even supposed to BE here right now. But I am going back to the hotel and going to get some sleep. You can sleep on the bus!
She holds out her hand, and Brian moves one hand gingerly to his pocket, gets the key, and gives it to her. She stomps out, slamming the door behind her. Brian continues to cover the family jewels, afraid she might return. After a minute, Louis gives a low whistle.
Louis: Wow. (he is looking at something on the computer)
Brian: What is it?
Louis: Did you know… I mean… wow.
Brian: (a little more curious, still holding his hands low) What have you got, Louis.
Louis: (just like a 12 year old who has discovered porn… or perhaps just like Louis who has discovered porn) I went to look and see whatever happened to our 2M4M idea. Did you KNOW what that really means?
Brian: Well, yeah… that is why we changed it….
Louis: Yeah! Well, I found PICTURES…. (he trails off, and clicks through the pictures, dumbfounded) I didn't know you could DO that….
Brian sidles over to peer over Louis shoulder.
Brian: Wow. (Louis keeps clicking. After a few pictures…) Wait… go back to that one.
Louis keeps clicking. Eventually he finds a video, and we hear the "Bawm chicka bow-wow!" porn music, and three male voices moaning and making muffled "Oh yeah… so big.." type comments. Brian and Louis stare at the screen.
Fade to black

I live in West Virginia. Every town is a small town. They're supposed to be coming to our capital city (if you want to call it a "city") at a date "to be announced" according to the schedule you posted. I wonder if they'll even have 2 people show up, let alone 20…
People don't get riled up or excited one way or another about much around here. The churches are fanatical but they're more about "the end is near" than "gay = sin." I expect it to be the emptiest of the empty. Though I do also wonder if any gay marriage supporters are doing to check it out, too, just because of how folks just tend to shrug at everything. Billy Joel comes to my town (erm, second largest "city" in the state, Huntington) to eat at his allegedly beloved "Jim's Spaghetti House," and nobody cares. I mean, he's no Justin Bieber but still, most people would want to meet or take a picture of a legend like him, right? Not around here…
I've wanted to swing by Target, too, to see if anyone's protesting, but I figure people don't know anything about it. Our biggest news is the weather, and it's either flooding or flooding we're concerned about.

It's Saturday evening and I'm feeling reflective.
Remember Tuesday morning? Before the announcement that the ruling would happen the following day? Doesn't it seem like that was a really long time ago? So much has happened in the last four days.
Wednesday I was right here with all of you guys when we got the good news. Actually, I was at work, trying to concentrate for a couple more hours before I could get out of the office and drive up to SF.
Then the big celebration in the Castro Wednesday evening, and the march from there to City Hall, then back to the Castro for more celebrating into the evening. Then back to work on Thursday, and finding out I had scored the last ticket to hear David Boies speak that evening. Driving back to SF that evening for an event I will never forget. Then Friday evening finally catching up with all of my friends and going out to dinner. The whole restaurant was packed and every table was excitedly talking about the ruling. And this morning, back to the Castro for my regular Saturday morning get-together with more friends, and then spending some time sitting in the Castro Plaza reading all about the trial news in the paper. All day, everyone who passed by was smiling and talking about the ruling. You can feel the energy in the air. It's true that it's not over yet, and we don't know the decision about the stay, but nevertheless everything just feels different here already. More optimism. More happiness.
I usually have some kind of point that I'm hoping to make with my posts, but tonight I just wanted to 'talk' to you guys and tell you how it feels out here in the bay area after everything that has happened since Wednesday. It sure feels good.

Alright, a picnic. I've been thinking that would be a good way to show whatever supporters show up to a NOM rally just how "normal" the LGBT community is. Wish they were coming to California.

It doesn't matter if it's 20, 56, 80 or 100–that's nothing! Radical anti-gay activist Louis is a liar just like the entire rotten cast at the shrill antii-gay pressure group NOM are liars. And they can't stop. When they are caught in lies, they tell more lies to cover their original lies. The fact of the matter is that we will eventually have marriage equality in all 50 states and militants like Louis can do nothing about it. Time is on OUR side and we WILL win, no matter how long it takes and it won't' take that long. And militant anti-gay activists can explain it to Jesus when He blocks entrance to Heaven for them on Judgment Day. (Gnashing of teeth, anyone?)

I for one an totally in support of humiliating NOM every single chance we get, Hi Louis!. And it is a sweet pleasure how many chances we are getting. The only time they get any type of turnout is when they have a rally in a church parking lot and even then it is a pathetic anemic showing and lackluster boring rally. I noticed that they have hit on the idea of inviting the, what is is called, Concerned Women for America to speak. These women are really wacko.
In the heart of the deep fundamentalist Baptist south they muster 16 supporters, to hear that wacko Alveda King speak absolute nonsense. is she a whack job or what?
Truth be told denegrating NOM gives me a boost, I'm not gonna lie. I seriously seriously doubt that they ahve 700,000 members like they claim. Look how thye inflate the number of attendees at thier ralies, you know they are puffing up their membership numbers as well, they gotta be.
Another poster here said it best, "NOM, National Organization of Morons" It is so easy to make fun of them, and the reason we are able to, is because Courage Campaign had the foresight to send out a team to track them.
Let's all enjoy this moment while we can, soon their tour will be over with, they will go back under cover.
I'm really surprised Maggie didn't stop this tour earlier.

80 people? Give them the eighty out of pity and then STILL laugh at them,
Here in Rochester NY we turned out between 75 and 100 people on less than a days notice to celebrate the verdict in the Prop 8 trial. If we can do that with short notice how can they claim any backing at all with weeks of advance planning and gobs of money?
87.
Nathan | August 7, 2010 at 11:24 pm
We can help make this video go viral by getting the video on the Youtube main page. When a video like this or one from EqualityOnTrial appears, we all need to like, favorite and comment on each video. For example, the Alveda King interview has 300 views but only 3 likes and 16 comments. If we start doing these things and getting our friends to do the same, we might could get the videos on one of Youtube's browse pages, which will result in more viewers. Right now, I fear that these videos are only being seen by people who are actively looking for these videos, and they most likely already have their minds made up about the ssm issue :-/
Just a suggestion ^_^

ROTFL!
Louis is now setting himself up to be an INTERVIEWER. He interviewed Alveda King (and it is about what you would expect… he asked the talking points, she really didn't give much by way of coherent answers). It's on his blog. My response…
Louis, Louis, Louis… if you really want to be on our side, come over here and JOIN us. No need to skulk over there just imitating us and trying to play like you ARE us. Crying that we are intolerant to YOU? Claiming that YOU are defending civil rights when your sole aim is to prevent US from marrying? So far, about all you HAVEN'T done is tried to claim that opposite sex marriage IS marriage equality… oh, no… wait… you tried that…
I love you, Louis… really I do. Few on EITHER side of the argument have been so helpful to our cause as you have. And now you are going to try to steal another of our "tactics" and become an interviewer. So let me give you a few tips.
1) If you have to put the "reasoning" for a question down after you've asked it, you have either asked it badly, or your interviewee has not answered it well. Try this, instead. Ask the question you mean to ask, and if you don't get a clear answer, restate the original question better and try again. Arisha has done this well, in trying to get Brian to answer a question. Study her. Learn from her.
2) Listen to what your interviewee says. Respond to what she says. When you don't get an answer (and you didn't, for any of the questions you actually asked), ask a follow up to get to an answer. Otherwise, you might just as well say "Here is a microphone. Please talk about something, I will be back in a few minutes to collect the microphone."
3) Try asking some interesting questions that pertain directly to your subject. Instead of sticking just to your talking points, find something personal about them to ask about, otherwise you might just as well say "Here is a list of what we believe in. Please speak about that. I'll be back in a few minutes to collect the microphone." Arisha asked Alveda some questions about her experiences and got back some telling responses.
4) And this is a biggie… try not to be biased in your questions. Ask a question in a neutral way (that is, without the slant your "reasoning" statements contain) and let your subject answer it however they will. Don't let them avoid the question, but don't lead them by the hand to the answer you are looking for. Listen to what they actually DO answer. You will get MUCH better material that way. Look to Arisha's interview of your supporter Larry for a classic example of this principle.
However, if you do want your subject to give you only the answers you want… several suggestions. Get them the study materials early so they can learn them better than Alveda did, pick a subject who is a better off the cuff speaker, and shoot for one who is actually a good speaker, rather than one who simply has famous relatives (who disagree with her position anyway).
Bless your heart, Louis!
Good luck with future interviews.
Oh, and if you need help thinking of questions to ask, come over and let us help you out… we have HUNDREDS of people brainstorming this stuff, as you know.

He went on for a number of pages on the reasons why Blankenhorn's testimony had no weight, citing exact cases why. It's pretty damning.
I loved the fact that two of the witnesses they that the Prop 8 side didn't call, supposedly because of threats to them if the trial was televised (which it was not) was then reintroduced by the plaintiffs. One testified that homosexuality was completely natural and unchangeable. The other testified that same sex marriage had been in quite a number of cultures and religions and had been so for thousands of years.
They didn't submit those witnesses not because of such theoretical threats to their person. They didn't submit them because they were damning to their case!

Here's what NOM's marriage tour has done for me: I used to read these whiny rants of Brian's, in which he portrays himself and his supporters as the victims, and I would get angry. Now I mostly just shrug my shoulders. He's just a mean-spirited bigot who knows he's on the wrong side of history and that it's only a matter of time until the average person walking down the street will view his message in much the same way they now do the Klan's.

There's one enormous problem I have with that. Well, for one thing, it's the Southern Strategy, which Republicans used blacks as the boogieman to fear southern whites from voting solidly Democratic now vote solidly Republican. They continue to use it today, saying the Mexicans are all gonna make you speak Spanish, or the gays will turn Main Street into Castro Street.
But no, the problem I have with it is that the very definition of a minority is that means you're outnumbered by another group. There simply is no logical way that can happen.
But no one ever said fear was based in logic.

AGAIN! This article relies on just the sort of outdated notions of marriage that Walker says no longer apply:
Without marriage, men often would be uncertain about paternity or indifferent to it. If left unchecked, many men would have little incentive to invest in the rearing of their offspring, and the ensuing irresponsibility would have made the development of civilization impossible.
It's certainly true that one of the functions of subjugating women in marriage was to control her sexual behavior. In the days before scientific paternity tests, it was about the only option available to her husband to be reasonably certain that the child was of his 'seed.'
I'm reminded of Beyond Power: On Women, Men, and Morals by Marilyn French. (As an aside, I really need to re-read this book to see if it speaks to me in the same way now that I'm an almost 60-year old as it did when I was a 30-something.)

I'm originally from Oregon. Believe me, you cannot live in the Pacific Northwest and fail to know this song (including the actual words).
True story: my friend and fellow equality activist, Rashas, still lives up there, and she was also involved with the (now defunct) NXNW music festival — similar to Austin's SXSW. Anyway, she was assigned to go pick up this guy, Jack Ely, from the ranch where he trains horses so that he could speak on one of the panels.
She's not familiar with the name, so she asks him his connection to the PDX music scene.
He was the lead vocalist of The Kingsmen — the singer for the almost completely incomprehensible version of "Louie, Louie" most familiar to people. And he told her the story of *why.*
He was 17 years old when The Kingsmen recorded "Louie Louie" — and he had just had his braces tightened. He could barely move his jaws, and they still had to make the recording or lose the money they had put up for studio time.
So, there you have it.
Love,
Fiona

@Sagesse and Kathleen, this column in my Sunday editorial section is what brought me to the computer. Do you see where he rants about a prior 1971 SCOTUS case that was "identical"?? What the frack is he talking about??
108.
Ann S. | August 8, 2010 at 5:46 am
@Sagesse and Kathleen, he was talking about Baker v. Nelson (should have at least googled a bit before my last post): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baker_v._Nelson
According to Wikipedia, "the Minnesota Supreme Court ruled that Minnesota law limited marriage to opposite-sex couples and that this limitation did not violate the United States Constitution. The plaintiffs appealed, and on October 10, 1972 the United States Supreme Court dismissed the appeal "for want of a substantial federal question." Because the case came to the federal Supreme Court through mandatory appellate review (not certiorari), the summary dismissal constituted a decision on the merits and established Baker v. Nelson as controlling precedent."
I will try to research further. Do you remember this being cited in the ruling?
109.
Kathleen | August 8, 2010 at 5:55 am
I think it was cited – could be wrong – but I definitely know about the case. I think it was the first lawsuit to challenge denial of same sex couples' rights to marriage.

Yes, Bob. I have an idea on how we can honor and remember Baby Roy and all the others who have died due to homophobia. Go to the Matthew Shepherd Foundation and sign up for email and cell phone notifications, and for those who are able donate either time or money. This is the organization established by Matthew's mother Jean to fight back against the hatred and damage that homophobia causes, and this is the organization that was instrumental in the passage of the Shepherd Byrd federal Hate Crimes law. The primary focus is on fighting homophobia, but they actually fight against all forms of hatred.

@Straight Grandmother: that is because she is too stubborn to cut her losses and go home. To her, this tour is EVERYTHING, and to stop it before the last stop is completed would be a very PUBLIC ADMISSION OF DEFEAT, and she cannot accept that. Of course, there is also the fact that with every stop, NOM gets more fodder for their spin "doctor" Louis. And he's really not even that good with spin. After all, when you attempt to be a spin doctor, you normally have at least enough talent to make it believable.

Currently, the state passes laws "regulating" marriage and no religion can marry anyone who lacks such a license. Religions should be free not only to require the state's license, but also to adopt whatever additional rules they wish. Catholics should be free to marry only blonds if they wish, but all religions should keep their asses out of the Courthouse!

According to NOM, that is not part of the Constitution, so they son't have to do that. They claim that this is just something we made up, and they try to distort this further into saying that we don't even want to allow them to speak in the public square, which is all a bunch of hooey! We don't care if they want to speak in the public square, we just want them to stay out of the legal code.
